Coastside Hope Expands Services to Meet Growing Community Needs
"Our new building location provides the space we need to expand and improve our services, making them more accessible to the community," said Judith Guerrero, Executive Director. "We’ve seen the needs of our community grow, and we’re ready to meet those challenges with a new facility that supports our mission: necessities for today, opportunities for tomorrow."
Enhanced Services
Enhanced Food Security Services
The new facility, located at 248 Main Street in downtown Half Moon Bay, will be open every weekday. It will triple the food pantry space compared to the current location, allowing Coastside Hope to provide a greater selection for families in need. The demand for regular assistance with food distribution has doubled in the last five years.
Enhanced Social Safety Net Services
Coastside Hope will now have the space to hire a new case worker, reducing wait times, particularly if significant events impact low-income workers such as the closing of Bay City Flowers and the Cabrillo Seed Farm. We will also add a new Development Director to identify and expand existing foundation and grant funding to secure the organization’s ability to continue to grow and respond to safety net needs as they arise.
Enhanced Special Programs
For many years, Coastside Hope has squeezed tax preparation services and citizenship classes into the current cramped building and will now have dedicated space for these important services.
Enhanced Partnerships
Digital Navigator Program
Partnering with the City of Half Moon Bay, Coastside Hope will now have dedicated space for a digital navigator to assist clients with the technology essential for education and support services access.
San Mateo County Services
Coastside Hope has partnered with various County departments to provide vaccine clinics during the pandemic and benefits eligibility screening. We continue to find housing and provide household goods for farmworkers displaced by the 2023 tragedy.
New Consultation Services
Coastside Hope recently piloted immigration legal services to assess local demand and will now have space for such consultation services in a local setting.
Over the next few years, Coastside Hope will run a capital fundraising campaign to help fund the new building. If you know of any foundation that might provide grant support, please contact Judith, or if you would like to donate to the campaign, please click here
“Our move is not just about meeting today’s needs—it’s about building for the next 48 years,” Guerrero explained, “we are beyond excited to welcome our clients to our new home and improved services.”
