Feautured Volunteer: Ruth Rafello

“In 1986 board member Jan Grierson asked me to join the board of directors of the Coastside Opportunity Center as she was resigning.  I served on the board for 19 years.  For more than 20 years I have worked with the Christmas Bureau-Adopt a Family.  Volunteering is vital to the health and welfare of our community.  If everyone donated a small amount of time consistently, there would be few unmet needs in our Coastside Community.  I have lived in Montara for 51 years and taught at Hatch School for 24 years.  For 46 years I have been an active member of the Half Moon Bay branch of the American Association of University women, another organization which supports our community  particularly education.”
