Coastside Hope Welcomes Judith Guerrero as New Executive Director.
Guerrero brings extensive knowledge in serving the Coastside community.
The Board of Directors and staff of Coastside Hope are pleased to announce the appointment of Judith Guerrero as its new Executive Director. She succeeds Fatima Soares, who will retire at the end of March. Coastside Hope offers basic life necessities to low-income clients, who include the working poor, homeless, seniors living below the poverty level, the disabled and families and individuals in crisis on the San Mateo County mid-coast.
Born in Jalisco, Mexico and a resident of Half Moon Bay for over twenty years, Guerrero served in a leadership role at the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Coastside for over five years, most recently as its Executive Director. Guerrero holds a Master’s in Public Administration and a certificate in Human Resources Management from Notre Dame De Namur University in Belmont, California, with a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice & Sociology (Criminology) from San Jose State University in San Jose, California. Guerrero was previously employed by Coastside Hope, assisting with its immigration program while she earned her Master’s degree.
“We are very excited to have Judith taking on this leadership role,” says Dianne Baker, Board Vice President. “Judith brings an exceptional combination of compassion, energy, knowledge and leadership to serve the Coastside community.”
Guerrero takes the reins from Soares, who began working at Coastside Hope as a secretary in 1977 and ascended to the Executive Director role in 2007. The Board and staff express their tremendous gratitude to Soares for her years of service and leadership. “Fatima dedicated 42 years to Coastside Hope’s clients,” says Baker. “She helped countless low-income families, seniors, disabled persons and others striving for a better life.” Guerrero added, “Fatima and her team built Coastside Hope into a critical safety net for the disadvantaged on the coast. As Executive Director, I expect to continue Coastside Hope’s excellent programs and to work with our talented staff and partners to expand our programs to assist more people in need.”
