Summer is holiday season, when families reunite or go on adventures together, making memories for the future. Even our invaluable volunteers go on vacation! We need good neighbors who are able to fill out the ranks for the next few months. This is an ideal time for teens who need community service hours as well. Teens who volunteer in the pantry are welcome to volunteer as a group, enjoying time with friends while doing good works. If you find any of these opportunities interesting, please contact email@example.com for more details.
- Reading Tutor For At-Risk Kids: Help 1st-3rd grade students learn to read. Tutors meet with second and third grade students on Tuesday afternoons 12:30-2:30, and with first grade students on Thursday afternoons 12:30-2:00. This is a great opportunity for retirees – all that’s needed is a willingness to help a child read, just as you would your own child or grandchild.
- Monday Morning Front Desk Volunteer: Greet persons who enter the office, answer phones, and control traffic flow. No special skills required – just your smile! Another great opportunity for retirees, with no physical lifting or other labor required.
- Pantry Volunteer: Help food program manager Julie Rupert manage our food pantry. Depending on your chosen shift, you’ll help unload food from our truck, restock fresh produce, sort and restock canned goods, or all of the above. Pantry volunteers must be able to lift 25 pounds. This is a great opportunity for teens to volunteer singly or in a small group. Get those community service hours during the summer, so you don’t have to worry during the school year! Available shifts are every Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday Afternoons, and alternate Monday Afternoons.
